Sarah C. Klain

My academic family

Kai Chan and his tremendous lab group as well as Terre Satterfield shaped my graduate school experience at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia.

I am also grateful to professors at Reed College who enabled me to combine my interests in biology and economics as an undergraduate.

Professional background

My experience working at the conservation and development organization Ecotrust as well as my two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Palau also influenced my research priorities and professional goals.

Interests

I explore via trail running, sailing, backpacking and climbing. I dabble at photography, urban homesteading and foraging for wild food.
